Ms. Jenny's Class studied, government, city planning and sustainable
development as well as geometry, cartography and measurement. The unit
culminated in a construction project. Groups of 5 students planned,
designed and built models of a total of 6 specific blocks of the ruined
capitol city of Nuku'alofa.While touring the city on the second of two field trips, the Class happened to meet the head consultant of the commission that was sponsoring a contest to redesign the city! The class entered at the last minute and won a special prize, including money and T-shirts. The results of the contest were publicly exhibited in a prominent window of a large business in Nuku'alofa.
